The kit of the Henschel Hs 123 from Airfix appeared for the first time in 1970. We have the reissue of 1994, in which only the box changes.

Below we explain the assembly process of this model. We will not add improvements, details or new parts. The challenge is to assemble and paint this model as it was released in 1970.

We started by gluing the two halves of the fuselage with the Extra Thin Cement (A.MIG-2025)*. In the vertical fin union we add a piece of plastic sheet to increase its thickness.

Empezamos pegando las dos mitades del fuselaje con el Extra Thin Cement (A.MIG-2025)*. En la unión de la deriva añadimos un trozo de lámina de plástico para aumentar su grosor.

When we have ready the set formed by the fuselage and the lower wings we present the pieces of the upper wing and the main wing struts to glue these to the upper wing.

Cuando tenemos listo el conjunto formado por el fuselaje y los planos inferiores presentamos las piezas del plano superior y los puntales para pegar estos al plano superior.

To fill in the joint we stick a strip of plastic foil. Due to the breakage of the pitot tube we replaced it with a piece of metal needle.

Para rellenar la unión pegamos una tira de lámina de plástico. Debido a la ruptura del tubo pitot lo substituimos por un trozo de aguja metálica.

We cut and sand the excess plastic sheet.

Cortamos y lijamos el exceso de lámina de plástico.

We filled the perimeter of the joint with Arming Putty Acrylic Type (A.MIG-2039)*.

Rellenamos el perímetro de la unión con Arming Putty Acrylic Type (A.MIG-2039)*.

We remove the excess with a cotton wool impregnated with Acrylic Thinner (A.MIG-2000)*.

We sanded the wheels to simulate the weight and drilled them. Then we glue the main landing gear applying the Extra Thin Cement by capillarity.

We glued the external fuel tank and the supports presenting the pieces in their place to achieve a good alignment of them.

The slot for the right access step is too big. We fill in the gap by gluing a piece of stretched plastic.

Then we cut and sand the excess. Finally we drill with a 1 mm. drill bit and test the adjustment of the access step.

The interior is too basic. It only has the pilot, the seat, and the support for both.

We start painting the interior with One Shot Primer - White (A.MIG-2022)* on the top and One Shot Primer - Black (A.MIG-2023)* on the bottom.

We applied the One Shot Primer - Black on the engine and propeller. We use the primers without dilution.

The base colour of the interior is Green Slate - RLM 02 (A.MIG-0217)* which we apply in the upper areas without dilution.

Then rinse only the upper area with a mixture of Green Slate - RLM 02 and Satin White (A.MIG-0047)* diluted with Acrylic Thinner in a ratio of 7 parts paint to 3 parts thinner.

We masked the seat and support. We painted the pilot using the colors that appear in the image in that order. We reduce the area of application with each colour always towards the upper area. The dissolution is as indicated above.

We profile the details with the Oilbrusher Black (A.MIG-3500)* and Oilbrusher Dark Brown (A.MIG-3512)* diluted with the Enamel Ouderless Thinner 35 ml (A.MIG-2018)* .

Perfilamos los detalles con los Oilbrusher Black (A.MIG-3500)* y Oilbrusher Dark Brown (A.MIG-3512)* diluidos con el Enamel Ouderless Thinner 35 ml (A.MIG-2018)*.

We ended up painting the glasses, the face and the headrest with the colors that appear in the images.

After gluing the support inside with the pilot, we glued the upper forward cowling from the front. The back part we have to adjust its position with a piece of masking tape.

We seal the joints with the Arming Putty Acrylic Type and remove the excess with the Acrylic Thinner or 96º alcohol.

Sellamos las uniones con la Arming Putty Acrylic Type retirando el exceso con el Acrylic Thinner o alcohol de 96º.
