A SCHEME: ML214, No.126 (Persian Gulf) Squadron, Royal Air Force, RAF Harrowbeer, June 1944.  Our cover star, ML214, is shown patrolling the convoys over the English Channel just as it was on the 6th of June 1944. The aircraft would later become the mount of Sqn Ldr. Plagis.

B SCHEME: EN398, No.402 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, RAF Kenley, March 1943. EN398 is synonymous with Wg Cdr. James ‘Johnnie’ Johnson, as well as the original Airfix Spitfire IX, but earlier in its life it saw service with 402 Squadron as Fg Off. Ian Keltie’s aircraft.

C SCHEME: WZ-GJ ‘Eleanor’, 309th Fighter Squadron, United States Army Air Force, Pomigliano, Italy, January 1944. This aircraft, serial number unknown, was Major Garth Jared’s during his time as CO of 309th fighter squadron. The aircraft bore his initials, in addition to the ‘Eleanor’ nose art.

D SCHEME: MJ897 ‘Curieux’, GR 2/33 ‘Savoie’, French Air Force, Dijon, France, September 1944. This colourful scheme belonged to GR 2/33 ‘Savoie’ of the French Air Force. Unfortunately, the aircraft was destroyed by flak in January 1945.
